HICKORY | When we met Hickory at the animal shelter, he was so sick from an upper respiratory infection and pneumonia the shelter had determined that, given their limited resources, humane euthanasia would be his only option. We took a chance on him and rushed him to our vet for immediate treatment. Although our vet immediately provided him with IV medications and fluids, we were not sure he was going to survive his first night in the hospital.

Ten-days later, Hickory bounced out of the veterinary hospital as a healthy and happy shepherd. His recovery was miraculous. Apparently he has unfinished business in this world and we couldn’t be happier for him! Hickory is a male coated shepherd, approximately 7-years of age. He came to the shelter as a stray. His beautiful coat of fur was terribly matted and it was clear that he had never been well cared for by his previous owners. The ragged tips of ears tell us that he likely had lived his entire life outdoors. It is also clear that he had spent little time on a leash and in the presence of strangers.

Everything is new to him. So if you can provide a loving and permanent home to a deserving middle-aged dog that needs some help starting life from scratch, please let us know. We guarantee the rewards will be great.
